Library Treasures

Current Theme Song (aka what's playing on my ipod right now): Run by Snow Patrol.

I went to the library for a spot of research and two spots of fun, and look what I found

I love it when I discover secret things in the pages of a book. It's like someone left it just for me. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever done that for someone else?

Haha, I found a bookmark and someone's class schedule (folded up). This looks so cool , it looks like Chinese!

Oh yes, I find all sorts of things in library books! (It's part of the fun of being a librarian!)

The library I went to as a kid used to make a display case every few months of things left in library books and people could come claim their items. Mostly it was school papers, random papers from around the house, and pictures, but there would be weird things like a driver's license-who could forget that?? I've found notes in books in the teen section at my library. And lots of homework and reading lists!

O I LOVE when that happens :)

I keep finding old trading cards people used as bookmarks.
Then I use them myself!

Kirthi - I've found schedules too! I think I actually lost mine that way, come to think of it...

Shannon O'Donnell - I know! I should probably take it back and share the love, but it's just so cool.

GreenBeanTeenQueen - Oooh, you would have lots of finds. Someone in your library should make a piece of art with all the lost papers and you could stick it in the middle of the library. That would be truly epic.

Juju - I know. It's like Christmas in books.

Celtic Traveler - Now that's the way to utilize those presents!

I once found an old postcard from the 40s with a message in swirly handwriting on the back. :)
But mostly I just find people's book book receipts. It's interesting to see what they checked out along with that paticular book.

I've never found anything that interesting, lol! Usually I get other people's library receipts or sometimes a folded up note that has a laundry list of what to do for the day...

But that's pretty awesome! :D

I'm glad this is such a popular post! I should hunt for more treasures for you guys.

Story Weaver - That 40's postcard sounds incredibly awesome. Did you keep it? What did the note say?

Pirate Penguin - But the library receipts can be fascinating! I love seeing what other people have checked out. It sometimes even prompts me to look them up myself.

Celtic Traveler - I know, right? But I suppose I can't complain. :)
