A fairly ordinary girl with an extraordinary love of life and words. I really can’t shut my brain off to what is wonderful and wonderous all around me. Friendly (most of the time), except at four in the morning when I wake up (and even then I’m generally affable), intensely curious, and trying to find a home for my YA novel. Any questions or just want to say ‘hi’ go ahead and drop me a note at heatherzundel [at] gmail [dot] com. I’d love hearing from you.
I love the comments you make on my blog! I am finally getting the books you won out to you today. Sorry it has taken so long! I love that from the Horn Book. The depressing part is wehn you do everything right to raise a reader, including becoming a librarian--and he still doesn't read for enjoyment!!
If children have to be BRIBED to do something, you need to a) reassess the importance of the task. and b) teach your children the importance of that task!
That's like bribing someone for good grades. Pschaw.
Oh. I hope you don't mind that I'll be posting this on my blog tomorrow! (Crediting you, of course.)

Wow. Way cool. If I had children I would post this on the fridge to remind my self daily :)
Number 7 makes no sense!

Juju - I know. But of course some of them are just funny (like the 40 watt light bulb rule) :)
Kirthi - I know! Bribing a kid to read does nothing for you, and actually teaches them the opposite of what you want them to learn.
Jana - Thank! And I had no idea you were a librarian! Do you like it?
Great advice. Annabel's been showing a distressing interest in reading and I've been wondering how to discourage her. Thanks!

NotNessie - *snort* Yes, you should get on that right away.
Enna Isilee - By all means! I'm so glad Dean Schneider and Robin Smith put it together.
